FELiCS has gone open source in end of 2025. Happy New Year 2026.

2025 was a great year for the FELiCS project. After nearly seven years of development, the software is now available as open source. Over the past one and a half years, the team has focused its efforts on preparing the code for this important step, and we are proud to finally share FELiCS with the wider community.

On behalf of the entire FELiCS team, I would like to sincerely thank Sophie, who took on the responsibility of managing the development over the last one and a half years and performed outstandingly in this role. Driven by the goal of making FELiCS open source, you played a central role in making this milestone possible—together with the dedication of the entire team.

I would also like to thank Lukas for taking major responsibility for the documentation of FELiCS. Within the landscape of academic software, our documentation stands out, and this is largely thanks to your efforts.

Furthermore, I would like to thank Simon for taking on key responsibilities in the development of the code.

Finally, this would not have been possible without the efforts of the entire team. Thank you very much!

With FELiCS now open source, we look forward to the next phase of the project and to engaging with the broader community. Happy New Year 2026!
